Originality: for the owl itself, it is a very plain pose. It is looking at the viewer, and though it is very nicely done, more of a tilt, some perspective, or even more of the body shown would greatly enhance the drawing next time to draw one. I love the use of color pencils, as it gives it a very textured feeling and the features are well distributed.
Technique: I often see paintings of owls, but it is different to see them in pencil! It has a more etched style, like a drawing full of life. I do think more gradients of contrast, shading to be exact, could be used on the body and the background. Try using a few different colors than just a brown and green for the background behind the bird; that will create a more lifelike appearance. Even making out a few leaves will give the allusion of a tree or forest (:
I love the blue on the beak; I am a big fan of using surreal colors on animals, purples or greens to highlight a cat and such. It adds great depth!
Impact: Overall a very nice drawing, a few things added to this will make it spectacular, excellent job on the anatomy as well (:
